Catie Copley, an eight-year old black Labrador retriever, had trained to be a seeing-eye dog but needed to switch careers when she developed cataracts, we’re told by Jim Carey, the concierge director of Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza, who takes her home most nights.

Fun Facts About Catie

• Catie was originally brought into the hotel to help showcase the extensive renovations completed in 2004 and has become so popular, some guests call three months in advance to book a walk with Boston’s favorite dog.
• Catie has had a couple of children’s books published about her and the latest “Catie Copley’s Great Escape” tells of her adventures with Santol in Quebec City.
