We depart on March 9, 2012 beginning our week long culinary adventure in Florence. We’ll experience first hand, the aromas and flavors of the Tuscan kitchen as we learn the sensual art of cooking in this region loved for its food and wine.

Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday)

We arrive in Florence, check into our pensioni located in a 14th century Palazzo in the city center where we will be treated to dinner.

Day 2 (Sunday)

We combine wine-tasting and a country drive through magnificent Tuscan landscapes on an afternoon excursion to Chianti. This popular Tuscan region is universally acclaimed for its classic wines and natural beauty. We’ll discover a countryside of vines and olive trees, Romanesque churches, medieval farmhouses, Renaissance villas and castles. We will visit an ancient Tuscan town and one of Chianti’s most renowned wine-growing estates. Here, we’ll learn about the local wine-growing traditions and sample three prestigious wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Reserve and Vin Santo dessert wine. The wines are accompanied by local traditional snacks.

Day 3 (Monday)

We begin our day with a tour to a local market in preparation for a cooking lesson in Florence. Meet Chef Giovanni and learn how to cook a four-course Tuscan banquet in a private home in the heart of Florence!

Day 4 (Tuesday)

We embark on a guided tour of the city, exploring the breathtaking Florentine landmarks as we wander through the winding streets. The tour culminates at the Accademia Galleria where we will be treated to our guide’s expertise. In the evening, we are offered the ideal opportunity, set in a Florentine wine bar, to taste locally sourced cheeses accompanied by the many flavors of figs, truffle honey and aromatic strawberry vinegar.

Day 5 (Wednesday)

This day is reserved for you to experience Florence on your own. Visit the Uffizi Gallery, climb the Duomo or relax in one of the many beautiful parks within the city.

Day 6 (Thursday)

We travel together to the Tuscan countryside to meet Manuela and Silvio where we will learn the art of Tuscan cooking.

Day 7 (Friday)

Fly home.

This tour is limited to women only. The cost is $2,850.00* per person based on double occupancy ($250.00 supplement for a single) including round trip airfare.
