Finders Keepers II

If you’re a fan of Mad Men and want to channel Betty Draper or Joan Holloway at your next soiree, Finders Keepers II is the store for you. The glamorous retro 1960’s style is hot this year and this designer dress and accessories boutique features the best of vintage designed jewelry, beaded gowns and flirty frocks. During our recent visit we drooled over an entire rack of perfect little black dresses; remember a girl can never have too many LBD’s in her closet!

Another great ‘find’ in Finders Keepers is a collection of vintage inspired hair accessories or better described as hair jewelry made by Deena Caruso. The D.Caruso collection features completely unique and one-of-a-kind headbands, hair clips, and bobby pins. Each piece is custom designed and hand-made by Caruso, and her work has been featured in Oprah and Seventeen magazine. GirlsGetaway bought one, two or more (we’re not telling!) of these awesome little pieces.

Atticus

Most people know the name Atticus from Harper Lee’s literary masterpiece “To Kill a Mockingbird.” In Spokane, Atticus is the place to head to for great coffee, free wifi and some cool off-the-wall home accessories. As any fashion-lover will know, it’s all about the accessories. We loved the decor in Atticus, from the unique, fun, funky items needed to create that perfect look in your home, to the pages of a copy of ‘To Kill a Mockingbird” displayed in a case in one corner of the store. We were thrilled to discover that they also sold Atticus t-shirts, a must have for anyone who secretly harbored a crush on Atticus Finch when she was young…

Boo Radley

The store Boo Radley reminds us of that slightly annoying younger brother who always loves to play practical jokes on you or is showing off his newest magic trick. This store talks to the less sophisticated side in all of us, the one that secretly giggles at bathroom humor and wishes they had the nerve to buy that whoopee cushion for her boss. Named after the character in “To Kill A Mockingbird,” who collected unusual and wacky items, this novelty shop is owned by Andy Dinnison, who also runs Atticus. A visit to Boo Radley is guaranteed fun, the store is full of things we can’t imagine not having, our favorite find was a Balaclava covered teapot, who knew that a home wasn’t complete without one of these?

Chocolate Apothecary

We love the story behind this shop, former pharmacy student, Susan Davis was returning home one night after an Organic Chemistry test, she was tired and she needed CHOCOLATE! She imagined a perfect place where you can find and enjoy the healing properties of chocolate.

The next day, Susan shared her vision with her classmates, and the Chocolate Apothecary was born – a chocolate pharmacy offering a touch of European ambiance to Spokane and, most importantly, a nearly inexhaustible variety of chocolate – GirlsGetaway.com’s drug of choice!

The apothecary, located in Spokane’s renovated Flour Mill, is a combination café and chocolate shop. The store also offers chocolate tasting classes, a perfect gift for the chocolate addict in your family. While there be sure to try the hot chocolate, which is made with high quality chocolate instead of the syrups and mixes usually offered in North America. Hot chocolates come in 4 varieties, dark, semi-sweet, milk and white chocolate.
