Our Writers
Dian Emery started traveling at the age of two when her parents moved to Germany, and her passion for new adventures was born during long summer vacations touring Austrian castles, camping in Spain and train trips to France with her family. She continued her travel escapes after leaving university, but soon discovered that money was necessary to traipse around the world, so Dian settled down for a few years to do the 9 to 5 routine. She started her working life on the stock exchange trading floor, moved to administering those dastardly derivatives, then dabbled in the nonprofit world with a stint at the National Cancer Institute. Now she writes about travel, is the Managing Editor of GirlsGetaway.com, and still loves to travel.
Jayme Lamm is a freelance writer and marketing consultant based in Houston focusing on travel writing and is in a full-court press writing her hugely opinionated sports column, The Blonde Side. Be sure to follow Jayme’s travel and sports adventures on Twitter @jaymelamm.
Marcia Frost writes about travel, food, wine and spirits. She is looking forward to discovering more locations around the world (and re-discovering places she previously visited). Marcia has her own blog at WineAndSpiritsTravel.com. Her stories also appear in many other publications, including About.com The Daily Meal, Cocktails & Joints, Michigan Avenue Magazine, and About.com. She has been making regular contributions at Girls Getaway since 2010. Read more of her stories at MarciaFrost.com.
I retired as a school media librarian in 2009 after years of blogging and writing, determined to travel the world and write about it. Since then, I have set up a travel blog, write for several print and online publications and have been to places I never dreamed I would visit. I realize very day how truly wonderful life can be!
Susan B. Barnes is a travel writer and photographer. A proud Army brat, she was born on a military base in Belgium and has been on the go ever since. While Susan has traveled across the United States and into Canada, she has also managed to visit such European cultural hot spots as Paris, London, Ireland, Athens and Rome, and has even explored the second largest reef in the world off the coast of Belize and the cloud forest of Venezuela, among many other exotic locales. Having learned to rock climb in Yosemite National Park, surf in La Jolla and swim with whale sharks in Mexico, she’s always looking forward to her next adventure. Be sure to follow Susan on Twitter to keep up with her latest adventures @travlin_girl.
